There's a closed class of
variant verbs. Variant verbs are divided into
subject-concord verbs and
dual-concord verbs. There are not many of these; new verbs are created by compounding. For example,
pyuzyp 'write' is a Zzyxwqnp loanword - but the loaned form alone means 'writing', and to say 'he writes', one would instead form a compound roughly equivalent to 'does writing', i.e.
unpyuzys. The tone of the second verb is lost.
This also applies to compounds of variant verbs! These compounds are head-initial and both components take person marking. So 'he goes to collect' is
nwaganf.
